Skil Model 100 – Fully Rebuilt / Mirror Finish – $1250 CAD + Shipping

Freshly built Skil 100. Originally listed on eBay but I’m offering it here as well.

This is not a quick clean-up — it’s a full, proper rebuild.

  • All new bearings

  • Freshly sharpened carbide knives

  • New premium 14-gauge rubber power cord

  • Castings cleaned, aligned, and polished to a mirror finish

  • Vintage lockout trigger switch (cleaned and rebuilt)

  • Custom depth adjustment knob

  • 32mm dust chute

  • Base professionally flattened

I’ve restored dozens of these and know them inside and out. This one is dialed.

Asking $1250 CAD + shipping (typically $20–$50 within US or Canada).

Message me if you want additional photos or a video of it running.

That’s very nice. Pretty, even. With all that you have done to it; It is worth what you are asking. If I were going to put it on display on my mantle or in a surf shop the polished aluminum would get a lot of attention and comment. For display purposes it is perfect. For surfboard shaping though it would have to have a few things more done to it to make it an every day tool in the hands of a capable shaper. However there are shapers who would use it just the way it is: ie “unaltered”. You’ve done a nice job on the RnR you have done. For comparison; I recently sold a 7.5 Amp. That had been disassembled, bead blasted, bearings, blades, brushes, cord, depth index removed, edges filed, back shoe shortened to the handle and painted, absolutely ready to shape. No further alterations needed; $900. It was sold to a young man who works in the Surf Industry. He has done some shaping and no doubt will get pretty damned good with that planer in his hands.

I like the dust shoot/vacuum hose attatchment. Is it welded aluminum or welded metal then painted black?

??? I have always heard that Carbide blades didn’t need to be sharpened or couldn’t be sharpened??? But I have never used a Skil 100 with anything but HSS blades, which hold an edge for a long time if properly sharpened. Looking at a Carbide blade, does make one wonder if they can be sharpened . Blades may be a thing of the past for me. DHL just emailed me a notice that my second Grit Barrel from Shapers.com is state side and will be delivered in a few days. Had to pay a duty on it before they would deliver. The Aussie government ought to see if they can negotiate a better deal with DJT. $58 tariff/duty.

I just bought a vac connector and hose from “Rock and Sea”. I am putting together a Vac setup that will be second to none. The core of which is a “Whole House” vacuum. The only thing I have had to pay for has been; connector, hose, and a Cyclone. I stumbled onto two Whole House Vacums for free. Good power and low noise db. Once I get it together, I’ll post some pics. This setup will make the Clark/U.S. Blanks vac setup look, function and sound like junk from Fred Sanford’s front yard.

Yeah did a little dive into it. Carbide can be sharpened three or four times. Someone once told me that Carbide can “blow up”. Having never used them I can’t say first hand.

That is great! Nothing beats stumbling upon a freebie like a vac system!

Rock and Sea has nice vac adapters. Can’t wait to see your final setup.

I would not alter that planer. Sell it “as is”based on the RnR you have done. The buyer can make any alterations he desires after purchase. For general public info; quite a few shapers do not remove the “depth adjustment index” nor shorten the base. One of the best shapers in the world uses a Skil 100 with the index/clicker still in place. That would be Master Roger Hinds. He’s at least in the top ten hand shapers in the World, if not top five.
