Skim shaped Surf Board?

I was just browsing Indoek, and I came across this mind-altering video.  I’ve seen some crazy skimboarding before, like full on wave riding, but this is another par.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone shaped a skimboard like surfboard? If so, what were the dimensions and was it finless?

I don’t know if I’d ever be interested in shaping one, cause I can’t ride a skimboard very well (although, I never REALLY tried…) and I don’t really have the shore break-y conditions enough for it.

Just figured I’d ask and get some feedback/opinions.

The thread about brad domke resurfaced, there are shots of him paddling into waves on a skimboard. I believe there’s plenty of videos of people doing tow in on skimboards too. I’ve been thinking about a very short, wide and curvy board like a skimboard but with two very little twin fins, or a very little single fin or something. Enough to permit slides with ease, but offer some grip. No pintail/pointed nose though.

p.s. - if you’re into the ‘heavy’ stuff, fast forward to around 2:30.

WHAAAAAAAAAT.

very cool,

Why not make it even smaller...like a skateboard?  Especially if towing into waves like the big ones.

To me it seems like he's barely in control, and the board is slow from a "regular board" perspective. Holding a line need a hand in the face of the wave to hold true.  Bottom turns are made with the riders weight over the center of the board. if he hangs his ass out and really pushes a turn it will fail.  Coming off the top to redirect needs a olie kick flip, or the board goes into a death slide stall.

I'd put some sort of a fin system in it...just a little something something. Put them on the rail, maybe a super mini quad.

Amazing what a good surfer can do with a POS pancake.

cool, thanks for sharing.
