Skip Frye Knockoff

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing I’m going to look at a Frye tomorrow and the guy seemed really sketchy what are some things that would prove its the real deal

You may be able to tell if you take a close look at the rails.  Skips rails are unique.  If you have never fondled one this may not help you.  Maybe he seems sketchy becuase it is a stolen board?  Take a pic and post it first.  Maybe people here can help tell if it is the real deal or potentially a “hot” item.    Good luck.

Here is a ‘rail grab’ off a Frye longboard.  Interestingly enough, even his fish boards have a similar rail shape.  Tails tend to be rather sharp and from mid point forward more of a softened ‘tri-plane’ bottom.

All said and done, a good counterfeit board can be damn hard to decipher from the real thing.

Seems like the newer Skip Frye boards I’ve seen all have a complex bottom. Multiple concaves running all the way. Saw them in SD at Cliffs when we surfed with Keith, Jay, and friends. I didn’t look closely at the rails, but the bottom caught my eye. There’s a shop near my house that usually has one of his glider boards. Very expensive.
