Hi guys, here is an 8ft skip frye pendo flex. I think its a Braden? Or a thin mint? either way its crazy fun. I had steve redo the rubber deck. it was originally a thruster, with some chewed up looking glass fins. I cut them off and glassed on this pair of quads i had made from rick clow. I’ve done plenty of spot patches on it, there are quite a few brittle areas i went over. But the areas i patched up get this salt residue on them after i surf. I’ve repatched them a bunch with a few layers of 4oz cloth but still salt come up through the glass on the rails, it means it not water tight. water is getting into this thing from somewhere but it feels solid all around. Arg! Maybe i just need to completely re-laminate the rails with a long strip of glass and hotcoat it instead of doing just the spot patches on the brittle areas. What do you guys think?
Cool board. Personally I would sand that whole area down, grind through the the cracks, fill ( if needed), reglass, and hot coat. I would treat it like one big repair and stop the " spot patches". Good luck
maybe I should try 6oz this time. Shit that mean’s I have to stop riding it for a while.
Are you certain the foam was completely dry? I’d follow the repairman from S.D. in his advice. It is a cool board and deserves a re-do. That will be a rider for years to come if handled correctly. Too nice of a shape to squander. Good Luck.
Here in san diego its been flat for weeks. Havent ridden it since thanksgiving, should be dried out by now.
Well I have seen boards that have sat around for over a year waiting to dry out, only for me to cut it open and still have the foam and stringer still be wet. Just saying
Don’t bet on it ! Air movement (fan) and heat (sun) are your allies.
