Interesting that in THIS video Greg Webber touts the advantages of the core?
I am actually quite impressed he does it all with his forehead.
haaa’’ john and if you listen to them the h d inserts for those nasty little black things is there idea as well

Yes the Core looks shit-so does the glassing, Can we get a close up of the lack of cracks/shatters
in the glassing , it looks to me like both are faulty… good shit, If only ALL the public knew!
…By the way the fin insulation, well looks quite familiar (its an easy concept, I designed my version…And No, I’m not seekin any credit ha ha… OK? !) only to a few newbies on Sways that I give the finger to ! lol !
…What ever
If only u guys had 1/2 a clue.
I use to repair all kind of epoxy boards. Pro shaper in France don’t like to repair them. I found that hand laminate epoxy like SLX are often make with denser EPS core and light thin laminate: cheap buiding technology. Denser EPS like 2,5lb is just lightly stronger than good 1,5lb. For near same weight board, you will put x2 more fiber on 1,5lb than 2,5lb and board will be a lot stronger and durable, but it’ll cost more (not good for buisness) and it’ll be stiff if you don’t care.
Like PU/PE, EPS/epoxy surfboards need to be make in a good way.
Wrong mix, bad temperature and humidity give a soft or brittel epoxy cure. Epoxy need more care than PE. EPS is shit compare to PU. But i still think it’s possible to make good surfboards with EPS and Epoxy.
Sorry for my frenglish.
Real sorry your getting hammered Matt Martin but the consensus among the forum is we’re not too fond of Global Chinese Surf Industries.
Didn’t think the word Integrity could be used so much in a 6minute Video conversation, Integrity Integrity Integrity!!..
The cloth showing is so typical of GSI boards. Few people surf where I live but even here GSI are famous for poor glassing quality.
I don’t understand why “Webber” with such a steller rep would choose to “slut” himself out like this. ?
Sorry but I thought he was a different kind of bloke…
Hey he was my “idle” ha
but
?
Appreciate all the feedback it’s been educational! Many thanks!
I might have an argument! However, this has come down to one judgement against another i.e. the surf shop against the surfer.
15 years of surfing counts for didley squat
wow, something that makes a …Lost glass job look robust.
It's rare , or even non-existant that a larger surfboard company will use the best methods or technology. They only use methods that are easy for " mass -production" . The best methods and technology are out there , and have been out there for years , but are not viable for big company " mass-production" . The biggest budget expenditure for any big company is " sales and marketing" , which is why we have to put up with a relentless barrage of non'stop bullshit from big companies with poor technology and even poorer quality surfboards . There's only one answer.....find a good shaper , that runs a small , clean operation , that can make what you want and how you want it......start with your local....
I agree with Reverb the machine has ruin surfboards. Mass production craving into the decks of a PU blank with a rocker that doesn’t fit.
Fitted deck rocker and Machining file skimming 1/32" is quality for the integrity of the deck strength of a HPSB.
CNC Machines misused are just as bad as a boards shape with an electric planner.
Their is no excuse for the misuse of tools or materials.
Doesn’t matter if its a CNC machine, Skil 100 or a F30 a Hacker is a Hacker regardless of the tool!
AMEN Kayu, That is the real deal bottom line.
Clark Foam closed...I had less than 5 boards under my belt......I went for it...EPS/Epoxy...a guy named Greg L helped .....Wow...the resin is so much better now.....
....I'm total backyard guy....It's sad and funny....your surfboard....the links....
...The post from the Sales Guy....................Super light has never worked for me...never....
Oh crap!...I'm old and bitter......My blown out Knee is better...time to go surfing......
Sometimes you just have to walk away................

Only in PU… In that sense, EPS is infinately more versitile. I can’t tell you how many “wrong blanks” I’ve made into great boards with high durability using the proper density core, glass bill, resin formula, and lamination techniques. Outside of compsand or bagging better cloths, you can’t build a stronger board for the weight.
Hi NJ:
Your Preaching to the choir!

Kind regards,
surfding
I agree with Huie
the core is the culprit for the deck dents along with a single layer gass job.
the rail however looks to be dinged therefore the weave is shattered, not a sand through.
my 2 cents
i can do that kind of damge to any construction in one surf except for compsand!
a bennet poly with a 5 4 deck i can dent like that in first surf pretty much
2 pound eps with double six ounce, less so
2pound eps with 1 five ounce is light but will dent easily. it shouldnt delaminate tho and hold up about six months or so which is pretty good for a suer light board
