small finbox centre fins

Does anyone know of a company that makes fins under 6" to fit standard fin boxs? Plastic or fibreglass. The issue i’m having is the small fins i’ve got here in Australia are made to fit the narrower 7" fin box and dont fit the regular 10" finbox, also the FCS fin adapters lose a lot of fins.

Thanks!

Josh

you can glue them in the FCS fin adapter?

A while back chips did a thread on casting fin tabs, Burt also put up some pic of this on a lokbox wooden fin.

just cast the larger tab aroung the fcs tabs.

Peter Maisch fins.

Howzit josh, those FCS adapters need a little tweak. It’s the angled screw that holds the front of the fin that is a problem. But there’s an easy fix. Screw the front screw in till it leaves a little divot mark at the front of the fin. Now take a drill bit and just drill a small shallow hole (1/16") into the spot and the screw will hold the fin in better. Aloha,Kokua

cheers for the feedback guys! good suggestion Kokua!

Howzit josh, That angled screw is a flaw and it doesn’t hold the fin in place that well, almost seems like it has a tendency to push the fin upwards. Aloha,Kokua

I have a 15cm tall single fin which “Out the Back” surfboards use as their centre fin for a standard box in some of their fish models. Probably not too far off what you’re after and shouldn’t be expensive. I ground and sanded mine down for a foil/shape I preferred.

It’s a DFS fin, model HO-C6. The fin is black plastic and very stiff.

Check out the stockists of Out the Back in your area and give them a yell.
