Small Wave Alternative to Fish?

I usually surf head high and under beachbreak. I usually surf fish with four fins, quads and twinzers, about 6ft long and wide. I am thinking about breaking out my bubble a little bit and getting something specifically for 1-3ft surf. I don't want to surf the usual longboard/funboard because I wan't to try something different. I'm thinking in the direction of something like these boards:

Lost Enterprise "The Plank"

Sunova "Dyanamo"

Something like these boards in the 6.5ft range. What do you swaylockians think? Any other suggestions in this direction? Thanks

Look at the Mini Simmons’. They seem to be monsters at taking on gutless waves.

Just built this, haven’t had much chance to try it yet:

fineline geebee looks like a really good choice..to me...

i might scoop up t-moe' sboard  that's at mollusk sf

EGG!!

Thanks, great suggestions! I especially like those fineline “alt” surfboards.

trust me those finelines are a very good choice...the mp

in a smaller size or the geebee...rock...hats off to kp/bj!

and let's not forget the sh/t aka  burritto by mr. liddle..they have a cool 6.2 at mollusk surf shop san fran

that you can look at on their website to get another idea/perspective...

this is a design I am doing a few of lately, its called 'The Kritta' , its a flat deck, full single concaved low rockered quad, they fly and make a fish seem pretty dull and boring....

Mini simmons/fish thing! 5’6 by 22 and 1/2 by 2 and 7/8ths thick! This board is like a silver bullet in waves under head high! I’ve ridden a few fish designs and this thing blows them away in small waves! I ride mostly logs and paipo’s and this board catches waves like a log, and turns like a thruster. It’s also the fastest board I’ve ever ridden. The big keel fins give it heaps of drive, so it’s not skatey like most twinny’s.

I also posted this on the egg thread, but thought it would fit here as well.

I have just finished a small wave alternative board, 5’7" x 19 3/4" x 2 5/8"

Inspired by the Channel Islands Dumpster board with a little more volume and thickness up front, slight s-deck to reduce back end…

pretty cool this…

can u talk more about bottom countours and rails?

Great, more suggestions. I put one of my fish up for sale and checked out the local shops “funboard” selection. The only thing I to my original post was that many times I am surfing less than optimal conditions. So, I’m looking for the best board in “average” beach break conditons…which I would have to say is semi-sloppy. Going to go now and check out the fat bat website.

I'm thinking I can guess where that barbeque was last time it was used!

Oh, and yeah, nice board!

Thanks Huckleberry, and you are correct I left the grill a little to close to the siding, " can you say dumbass "

Thanks dlock, what else do you want to know besides what I posted.

Tom

Mahady’s orange quad pretty much nails it imo… large tail block will catch small waves, narrower front end, four fins… man, I think I just found my fish altenative

Simmons inspired all over it, but looks like a much more versatile board.
