small waves

from the recently departed summer [micro waves , in fact !]

rare all day offshores this summer , blitzing temperatures . but eye candy galour

it’s all good [i guess ?] . glad we are now entering the wave sason , though ! flattest and hottest W.A. summer for years …

…look what landed near our beach …

and …look WHO landed on our beach !..

Lovely those nice small waves! Here are a few more.

actually, where i live these are pretty decent waves, especially in summer.

this post reminds me of the Bundaberg Rum TV advert: “We wish England was Australia” ( i think it’s on youtube )

here it is: Bundaberg Rum advert

Ah yes Bundaberg , my birth place, bundy rum my birth right.

…more to come …

thread the needle’s eye …

these ones are from a week ago , now .

…although too small to surf , the water colour is pretty nice , eh ?!

[plus , all-day offshores are [usually] extremely rare here …it explains the 30 degree C days we’ve been experiencing , plus the warmer water temperatures for this time of year , too…

enjoy !! …

corrugated lips …

hey chipfish,

thanks for sharing those beautifull and relaxing photos.

lee

Shoulda taken the mat out ben

You could probaly get barrelled bodysurfing some of those waves. Done that before, it was cool.

yes i’ve taken out the mat

and yes i’ve bodysurfed those waves lots of times

but i LOVE photographing them , for a more permanent , people-free memory .

cheers

ben

glad you liked 'em lee , here’s more microwaves …

…the mat rider’s takeoff perspective …

…and , yes …it doesn’t get any flatter than THIS ?!! …

avitar beachies…

speaking of!

we got some nice ones yesterday:

and , a slightly bigger one …

…share the stoke !! …

well, with summer-like swell, “banks” [read : “shallow”], and summer’s weather patterns [early seabreezes] fast approaching , i thought it was time to resurrect / exhume this thread …

…these ,

from monday , tuesday , wednesday and thursday , too, this week …

[the new digi camera is getting used , don’t worry , guys !! WHAT a GIFT , as was Rohan’s trip last week [he went back for four days this week , and got only one surfable day out of it …three hours , in fact , a foot overhead on the sets and closing out for “about 1 in four waves” . he DID get one where he counted to seven in the tube , he said , before busting out the doggy door , but saw it keep peeling off down the line just around that section …yes , i believe him …[he is not prone to exaggeration … if anything , he is the master of talking it down , in true aussie style …]

“where did the WAVES go ??” …

“…oh , HERE they come !!” …

[the camera does blck and white and sepia too…yeeeehaaaa !!]

this was taken with the flash setting …

…taken with the “underwater” setting …

after 30 plus years of using cameras with viewfinders ,

it is taking me a bit of time to get used to using an lcd screen , away from my eye , as the wave approaches…kinda hard for me to see what’s on the screen [hence the “offcentredness” of this shot] … has anyone ELSE had this ‘problem’??

…“to be continued” [hopefully?]

cheers !
