But - where do I get ProBox fins? I have FCS fins, that should work, but I don’t see much out there for ProBox…
I definatly don’t want to do my own fins…
I just shaped a 7’ x 21.5" x 3" quad that I am going to install probox boxes in. Anyone have a nice set of quad fins for a board like that or know someone that can custom make them? My initial plan is to just use FCS fins… But I would like to eventually get a good set of fins for this board.
Also, will post up an abbreviated build thread soon.
what's the board for? semi gun? egg? big guy everyday board? in addition to the places mentioned above, i *think* that fiberglasssupply.com stocks them too.
Proboxes accept a bunch of different fin bases. They were designed to use FCS fins since they are widely available.
ProBox Larry can custom make you a set of Fiberglass Fins specifically designed for ProBox. We carry some standard template Fibreglas ProBox fins at Greenlight as well.
You can also get the Graphite Plastic molded ProBox fins, convert Futures fins to fit Probox inserts, or we can make you a custom set of bamboo fins for Probox.
And of course you can make your own bamboo, wood, fiberglass, or G10 fins. It’s not too difficult.
I went through Robin Mair. You can get his contact email off the probox website. He was fast to respond and can also give you some recs on fins based on your dimensions. All you have to do is set up a paypal account and he will send them out pronto once he gets the money. I went with ESC quads for a 6’2" diamond tail quad and they work great.
I have found them since - pretty much through all of the above methods! The easiest and most effective was I went to the ProBox site and just sent them an email. I got a set of kick ass fins in about a week or so. This is how I do it now unless I just happen on them else where…
