and i still dont know what the heck to shape out of it. i kinda want to do something like an 8-8’6 roundpin eggy, mini-longboard, hybrid single fin kinda thing. something to take out that will glide on small days, and still perform when it gets a bit bigger, and still allow me to noseride.

And the fins-
no,no,no,no! don’t cut more than a couple inch’s (2-4")off of blanks if you can help it! That is a noserider blank! 9’2" x 18.75"n x 23" x 15t or similar. Why use a blank for an unpractical application unless that’s all you can get! It’s thick, you don’t wanna play with the existing foil that much…you’ll have a soft, stiff, flat chunk with alot of costly wood running through it. Keep it till you really need a noserider!

a 9’0" noserider with some performance-oriented characteristics will glide better on small days, and still perform well when the surf picks up.
sounds good! i think i’l jus make it a 9’er noserider or somethin then. probably just skin the blank, make the nose really wide and fat, with 50/50 rails all the way, into either a wide roundtail, or a squaretail. probably jus put a big honkin fin on there too.
its mostly gonna be a board for friends to use, and to teach people on… gonna go with 2x6oz deck and 6oz bottom, maybe a deck patch too, for knee paddling it. not sure on color, but i think i’m gonna go with a blue-green, something at the darker end of the spectrum. itll probably end up with lots of streaks and such in it, but whatevers! gotta learn sometime!
next boards are gonna be a 7’8ish or so retro egg (inspired by a hobie retro egg i handsanded today), a 9’6 heavy noserider, and an 11’ glide machine! any reccomendation on blanks to use? for the egg i think i’ll use a 7’11R, since that was the blank that was specified on the order card for the board i sanded… but i have no clue for the rest!
