Thanks, but I’m looking for wood to do my own glue up. I’m making a one-third sized replica/wall hanger of an old board out of balsa, redwood and spruce.

Frost Lumber is most definitely the best place to buy balsa in So. Cal. as they are the supplier to all other lumber yards up the coast *(So they tell their coustomers).

*FYI- Frost gives a 10% student discount.

Cheers,

Contrary to popular belief Frost in not " the supplier to all other lumber yards up the coast". They are to my knowledge a minor player in the longer lengths business. We bring in a minimum of 5000bf a container with our blanks and sell out with in several weeks, which is slow compared to our blanks which are sometimes gone the same day as they arrived. This is primarily because we do not not like to carry an inventory and sell our wood in complete bundles mainly to noted shapers(yes that means cheaper). Recently with addition of my partner John Campbell we are now thinking of selling lumber by the stick and priced according to quality and tapping the smaller sales end of the market.

I’m going to say here for the record that our shipments from ecuador never arrive on time and we are often forced to make substitutes as some boards don’t meet our standards and are sold as seconds, but I’m very confident that out of the 2000 or so boards we have produced sinced 1992 (aside from some early misscommuncations about chambered models, which we no longer produce because it got very expensive replacing blanks) there have been no dissatisfied customers.

I’m sure someone will chime in here and make me eat my words but that is my honest recollection.

Any questions about us or are products please feel free to contact John at (805)450-0169 or myself at (805)637-5559 or visit www.rhinobalsa.net .We are in the process of trying to get back are .com that was snyped

Your website say that you end the planks. How much rocker comes in your 10’ longboard blanks?

Thanks

I’m sorry you are having with my web site. We still make blanks and one style of that would be a plank, essentially a flat surfboard. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions

Good to know you are still on Kauai. I keep telling myself I will come over when a certain North Shore shaper finishes a board he has owed me, but that has been over 5 years now. I guess this is another one of life’s lessons.
