What are the downsides to using convex bottom contours (subtle vee or roll through the entry maybe running as far back as the front foot area) on step-up shortboards in the 6’6" to 7’0" range?
What I have found, is that the more convex or rolled vee that you place up the front on short boards, the less stable they become on takeoffs ( as you apply pressure to your hands to get up, it can be wobblier and because of the wobble it is harder to set an initial driving line)Also you must remember that when you are adding vee anywhere in the bottom you are changing the outside rocker line and you must be aware of the affects of not only your vee but the change in your rocker. The best way is to try it out and see if you like the adjustments. KR http://groups.msn.com/MyKRSurf/krcomweb.msnw
