What is the vedit on Solar Res or kinds thereof?
Are there any problems or negatives with it? I would think that eveyone would be using it since it cures so quickly?

Anything worth having is worth waiting for…
Quick is the new philosophy for those without soul!
Quck cure, quick yellow, quick brittle crack, quick delam…
Just like humans, and everything else in the world.
I never heard of quick yellowing for solar res unitl now. I heard it keeps the board whiter.
I am glad I asked the question so I could get everyones exerience with solar res.
The UV curing resin by Fiberglass Hawaii is used in the majority of surfboards in the Santa Cruz region. I’ve been quite happy with it for my polyester resin needs. The glassers make UV beds for it. Lam the board, stuff under lights, wait 20 minutes, do the other side. Good stuff. You need to use MEKP for things like sinking finboxes or filler for ding repair, as the UV may not penetrate well. But for a surface glass layer - really fast cure in the sun or UV lights.
Do you mean the brand “solar Rez” that comes in the yellow tube, I’ve only ever used this for emergancy ding repairs. Works great in a fix, but if I’ve got time I’d do a proper repair, as I see it as a bit of a tempoary patch not a life long reapair, Oh and that yellowing happens if you trap sea water under the ding and will happen with any typ or repair or resin.
If your talking about adding UV catylist to lam resin to do a whole board ,it that has many benifits (less temperature depentant, longer working time and more control) and is definatley the way to go.
Though if anything it actually takes longer than normal resin just with MEKP as you spend longer working with it, and it still needs to be left to fully cure.
