Solarez ZEROVOC EPS-Compatible. Anyone use it yet?

Just saw this: http://solarez.com/productsnew/zerovoc.html

Wondering if anyone has tried it yet.

If so, has anyone tried lamming with it, rather than just sealing the blank?

Thanks

since glassing with epoxy is so hard this is such a great thing - you only have to glass it twice! so much easier........

Grasshopper,

That’s the primary reason why I asked. If you could actually use the stuff to lam with a normal glass schedule and even hot-coat with it, then it would save alot of time. Just wondering if anyone has done this yet…

Just watched the first bit of the video at that link… the guy initially suggests sealing the EPS with the ZEROVOC and then glassing with polyester.  Leads me to believe this stuff aint cheap, or close to epoxy prices for that matter.  You have to call for price too.  hmmmmmmm. Wonder how it holds up to sunlight, will it yellow?

seems interesting, im just a natural skeptic.  Really hoping someone has some experience with this stuff.

glad to see this question on here, wondered what the heck it was for myself. From what I gathered from the site its uv epoxy, is it the only one out there? When I saw them at sacred craft I thought it was blank sealer, I guess if you seal the eps then you can use polyesther over it, but can’t you use polyester over regular RR epoxy too? I just assumed, haven’t used epoxy yet…I guess in itself UV curing resin is a good way to go, but cost is the question. so many options…

I know a number of people that have finished EPS boards glassed with epoxy (RR and other brands) with a polyester hotcoat/gloss coat succesfully.  Of course, they sand the laminate first (once epoxy cures, you cannot get a chemical bond to it like you can with polyester laminating resin)… these are clear boards, no color lamination involved.  Greg Loehr doesnt recommend it, says it results in getting a lot of boards back from riders if done in a production setting.

I believe that this stuff is urethane based. The Solarez guy posted a few weeks ago saying so. It probably is expensive (more than PE). But it would be great to get someone who has used it to chime in. If it is comparably priced to RR with the performance/durability properties of urethane (Resin X?), than it has potential. Since it’s UV cure, you would also waste very little resin, which could offset the more expensive cost.

Just finished prototype sup with the stuff. I used it as a pre-lam/sealer. Combined it with microspheres and 2oz cloth over 1lb eps. Glass schedule followed was hand lay-up of RR epoxy on bottom: (2) 6oz, top:(2)6oz/(1)4oz. Primed and painted with quality automotive finish. The zerovoc cured excellent and fast. Was able to pre-lam/seal both sides within an hour. Way cool. Next one will be vac bagged.

Though you were going left.
