Early sat. morning some #$%^&( stole Jim “Mouse” Robb’s 8’ 5 fin South Coast Moab. Board had “for Mouse” in stringer. Also Blair xtr speed egg 7’6" ? The boards were taken from his truck in front of his house in Point Loma, San Diego.
For those of you who don’t know who Mouse Is. He has been surfing S.D. waves for 60+ years, still ripping at 75yrs old!! One of the BEST examples of what a “surfer” should be. Mouse would give you the shirt of his back and some punk/punks stole his boards. Is this “respect”?
If anyone can help find “Mouse’s” boards, they always seem to show up somewhere, let me know.
I haven’t seen Mouse in many years, but surfed many a day with him at Windansea. I hope all SWAYS keep an eye out for his boards. Can you post photos of the board? Please say hello to him for me. Tell him Jim Fisher is still around, though not surfing anymore. Such a shame that he got ripped off.
Boards were clear. I will try and find out #'s etc on them. The hat has already been passed to “buy” Mouse new boards. He will be in the water for sure. This kind of CRAP just ain’t right. Hope we can find who did it and … Call the police of course, times are not what they used to be. Too bad.
never met “Mouse”, but saw some guy at dog beach telling his dog to sick’em (had to have been a friend). 75 yrs old and jogging the beach, and ripping it up, that’s a role model. If that guy needs a board, i dont use them all at once. plus post some pics so i can keep an eye out. thanks.
If he needs a board, I have plenty of my own or I will shape him a new one, and my buddy Jerry Ingham will glass it. Just say the word… Dave 619-757-0100
I have no tolerance for board theives. I had two boards stolen down there right out of my Toyota truck in the past 5 years… a 10’10" Island Influence with red stripes and “Eddy” on the stringer…and a 9’ Pearson Arrow winged-pin tail with blue logos and “Shaped for Dave by Bob Pearson” on the stringer. I know I’ll never see them again, so I’ll definitely help Mouse’s cause if I can.
Update on the boards: The Blair was a clear epoxy speed egg 7’2" number on bottom # 1581. The South Coast “Moab” was #6062. Mouse did not have any pictures of the boards. The South Coast could be seen on their web site.
When I told him about the help being offered, I think we almost made a tuff old surfer cry.
Bill, he said he remembered you. Tall “skinny” guy, must have been a long time ago. Just joking, can’t help myself grew up on the beach.
Ken, Mouse was really stoked when I told him of your offer, I told him I would shape him a new one for free. Now we just need some “ONE” to be a “PLUS” and help out { not lookin for a freebie } with the glassing??
Again, thank you everyone! Maybe we can get lucky and find who stole em and make them pay. If they had any brains, they would return them to Mouse’s front yard with a note saying ''I’m sorry". They stole from a REAL SURFER something they will never be!
I’m still skinny, but have become too short for my current weight. I’ll contribute to a glassing fund for Mouse, if one is formed. Keep me posted by PM.
HEY, San Diego Sways, will anyone else step up and help make this happen for a deserving waterman?
It sounds like you have this predicament solved. However, if not, the offer still stands…
If he needs a board, I will shape him a new one, and my buddy Jerry Ingham (Glasser / Finner for Velzy, Edwards, Brewer, Takayama) will glass it. Just say the word… Dave 619-757-0100 or call Jerry himself @ 760-889-4162, now working up at Brad Basham’s shop in San Clemente, I’m sure he knows Mouse. Dave
