As i tested my new built fish 5´10" twin fin in 6ft surf i had a problem. when i take off and as i stand up the nose lifts up into the air and i have troubles to get it back into the water. never had a problem with that. is it possible that its to less volume in the tail or to much tail rocker? on skateboards you would call it a tail wheelie.
I think you’re not used to it yet. You might have to try a different style of surfing (more front foot weight). What was your old (regular) board like. Did you have howling offshores? So many variables…
Ive had boards that felt like that but they had massive tail rocker and i dont think you would have that much on a fish type board. perhaps more info would help.
I ride a 6´2" thruster . yes it was a bit of offshore that day. i´ll show you a few pics of the board. maybe i just should get my front foot further to the nose.
actually its a thruster so there can be a center fin pluged in. it´s fcs but i´ve tried it with only two fins yet. the side fins are placed 12 4/5 " away from the tip of the swallows
I think the board looks great, but I do see some inconsistencies that might be causing the problems mentioned above: It looks like you have a major break in your nose rocker? About 18 inches from the tip? Were you trying to stage the rocker like that? An inconsistent foil like that in the nose will be prone to catch air or water depending on the conditions. Sounds like on an off shore day it was catching air. Generally fishes like to be fairly flat and thick, thats what makes them so fast. Like mentioned above, it was probably a mixture of the offshore winds and pushing water under the nose rocker. Ride it on a calm and report back to the armchair surfers here at Swaylocks…you said you got 6ft surf, I’d kill for that right now in San Diego.
Id have to agree with resinhead that your rocker looks a bit funky the way it trasitions from your entry to center and it looks like you may want to go a little flatter on your overall rocker.
this board is a b model. i reshaped it because it had to less noserocker. I surfed it in small waves as a thruster and it was great. extremely fast (it´s a flat to v bottom, with really low rails) and it turns and carves like no other board. The only problem i´ve got was in 6 ft offshore conditions. It was a short windswell in Levanto, Italy which started with nice clean 4 ft in the morning became 8 ft with some bigger sets at about 6 pm. the next day it was 6 ft offshore. for 4 hours at midday the swell began to die. So i had the chance to test my semigun, my thruster and my fish. Was great. Just beside this one problem.
