Can’t answer your 1st question, but I would guess that if that is direct drive to the rear wheels as it appears to be in the picture, the motor (and gear train) will be under a lot of stress. If it is 12V, that is roughly 1HP - a lot of output from a pretty small package, especially if there is no neutral or clutch that can be selectively engaged. Is this related to the “Bikes, Motorcies, and Surfboards” thread, or is that a coinkydink?

It’s got a 24volt battery package, and would be a great way to get to the beach…!!

I ordered one and wondered if anyone else has had any experience…

I’m thinking, spare parts, it’s a belt drive, get a spare belt etc…

It would be great if you could widen the whole lot to fit a surfboard, ie spring loaded clamps to fit your board, wheels close to the edge so the board doesn’t bottom out on anything…

Support under the guts of the board…

Gonna have fun trying…

Hicks,

I would have expected you to hook one of these up to the BSE by now…

LOL!

Belt drive is a vast improvement over what I was expecting - drive train will be much happier than if it was direct. Also might be a possibility for you to change gearing if indicated. So it’s ~7A draw - roughly 1/2 HP? I’d still be concerned if there were a lot of steep hills on your way to the beach, but if it’s fairly flat, this thing should be a blast. Spare belt, maybe drive and driven cogs, and a spare wheel would be my suggestion. If the suspension bushings are all identical you might want to carry one of those, too, but that’s probably overkill. One of those little folding solar panels might fit in your backpack too - get a recharge during your session. Mostly those are 12V, but I think it would still charge if the panel is diode protected - just at half the rate. What about some kind of flexible coupling for the nose of your board to a belt, and a skate wheel dolly for the back? You’d be the smallest articulated rig on the road…

Good one SD!!!

Rode it today after a big overnight charge up…totally addictive…

Then all the girls in the office had a go!!!

Trisha, Office organiser extrordinaire…

Frances, Event Organiser…

Georgia, Publications Manager, likes skating in knee high boots…

Kate, Media Manager, has to improve her arm movements…

Jodie, Intranet Manager, likes skating in high heels…

It’s got a button on the deck that when pushed starts off slowly and then gears up to maximum speed…

Takes a little getting use to, steering is a bit stiff at the moment but I think my kids will loosen it up a bit…

It’s bloody heavy, weighs in at around 17kg (37lb), you have to drag it by the tail with the front wheels on the ground…

The turning system is very similar to the BMW Carver from a few years ago…

Lotsa fun…

Hi Hicksy,

That thing looks dangerous to this ex-skater with far too many arthritic old injuries…

I lived fast but did’nt die yet!

Won’t the missus want to know why only the office GIRLS had a ride on it!!??

Hey Speedy,

After I posted the review, I went down a maybe 10 degree slope flat out, probaby hit 30kph at the bottom…

Took my bung hole about an hour to relax again!!!

The torsion system for trucks is VERY skittish at high speed. any slight movement is magnified tenfold…

The only reason the GIRLS got to ride it was that that’s who I work with…

No other guys apart from the Director and he’s at meetings all the time…

4 girls at home, 8 at work…

I’ll try to get some footage of the board in action today and post up…

Hicksy, you hiring?

Just what I was thinking. That thing looks so cool, but my body can’t take falling on hard pavement anymore.

Seems like he’s found a new way of having some fun with office girls.

yep those office girls i nice …

[i pretend i’m visiting hicksy , but really …]

you know how it goes , wandering eye syndrome [or is that SINdrome ?]

ben

gotta agree with the frail bones meet hard concrete comments , too

Benny, sorry, no positions to be filled…hehehe

SC, I agree about the hard pavement thing, I think as you get older you value your body a lot more, takes ages to repair…

The grins on the girls faces was great, some of them had never ridden a skateboard…

I might suggest a trip to a waterslide park for the next “team building” excersise…hehehe…

Chip is that why you don’t seem to be listening to me…
