If you’re after whiter spackle, you can mix it with white acrylic paint.
I’ve done it before with good results… They even have different shades of white.
Chrisp, tried it, my tempura is a touch yellower than my EPS. I have some really white, super super white EPS. Suppose I need to line up a sample of foam in an art store.
…Woah! Dap changed their Fast n’ Final!! Check it. It’s more grey. The original matches my foam much better. Damn. No worries I guess if you’re painting your foam. hmmm, not sure what to think. Hopefully they make the original along with this stuff. not digging the color.
Yep, just pickup some of this and did a test. It’s really white, a touch creamer (good on rails). A little heavier than Dap’s Fast n’ Final, but that can be argued you’re getting more acrylic once you thin it down. And…Dap just changed to a formula that is more grey/brown tint now, making your white blank look dingy/dirty. And they apparently discontinued the old Fast n’ Final, so it’s a toss-up between Sherwin’s spackle and Red Devil’s. 3M makes some tech-looking stuff but the containers are so small, for the money, why go there.
I picked up my SW bucket today. I like it. Love the creamy nature.
Splitting hairs on the weight. My bucket weighed a few ounces more, but had a steel wire handle, while the fast n final had a plastic handle. Might be the same if I rip the wire handle off.
Just finished doing some more with the Sherwin Williams spackle. It kinda feels like fast n final when I was adding a little acrylic paint to it. More creamy, with more working time. Maybe this SW has more acrylic already in it. Anyway, I like it much better.
No more fast n final for me.
