Spammers dredging up old posts

I have noticed a lot of old posts from years ago have been brought back to life lately by users with less than 10 posts.  They generally have one or two sentences that are vaguely related to the post, and then provide a link at the bottom of their post.  These emails have short ULS that look reasonably legitimate.  I read an article on Cnet new recently that talks about a spike in this type of spam.  Here’s the URL to the article.

I don’t think I am going to click on links in posts anymore unelss they come from people that I actually know.

I don't know what your talking about.  i just got 5 acres of coastal property in Nigeria with a free magazine subscription, a vegetable slicer, and a toaster from one of those links.

You forgot to mention the bank draft for $10,000 U.S. that only required you provide them with your bank account #.

if they are indeed here

prepare to get trojan and zombied soon

by clicking on the wrong post

recruited for some better purpose from far away

vidalia-ize yourself and become the onion

spammers have been banned and the short urls removed… no worries mate.  They were sneaky in that the first few posts seemed legit…or at least borderline.
