speed dialer - observation

just taken delivery of a new quad with lockbox speed dialer fins…mmmm…they look nice!

I’ve ridden it in 3 ft clean conditions - goes like nothing else i’ve ever ridden…very fast, loose and positive…Like it alot…I’m sure when I get used to it I’ll like it even more

the board doesn’t feel like a thruster nor a twinny…and will need a different approach to surfing it…

Now then…what’s all this with the curvy fins and extreme splay?..the shaper who made it for me said " to create lift"…

anyone with more observations…and advice as to how it should be best surfed?

Off the tail! Do you consider yourself front footed, or rear footed? What type of waves do you usually surf? Point or beachy? Turbos (curved) go best for guys who use the rail on turns and surf hard off the tail. The increased splay or cant helps to minimize tracking or stickiness. Lift and drive, but they go to rail to rail really well. Hope that helps! Thanks Jim

(Not to hijack anything but what works for front-footer, Jim?)

BTW, this thread needs PICS!

The straight fins (not curved) seem to better for front footed guys on the speedialer. Or even conventional raked fins.

Here’s a pic where you can see the curvature of the fins

The thing I think that has hooked me on the Speedialer with the turbos is the ability to crank off the bottom and top

Ley Lock…

thanks for the concise and detailed reply! I’m very much a back footed surfer…so I guess what I’ve got’ll suit me well…it’s great to have something totally new (to me) to work with…

do you (or anyone else) have any thoughts on the deep concave that goes with this design?

Cheers
