Alright, here goes,I live and surf in Texas and want to add a longboard “speed shape” to the quiver, but I’ve got alot of questions about them. I know that they originally started out as big wave boards(Bing Pipeliner&soforth),but could they work o.k. in small to medium-size surf? I’ve already got a good noserider, but I’ve always liked the outline/theory of speed shapes. They just look like the ideal high-speed trimming machines. Maybe a 9’6" or 10’ 16"x221/4"x14"? Any thoughts? Also, are the rockers on these boards typically gradual or old skool? Thanks, guys! _

Thanks, guys! _…A downed 70/30 or a 80/20 rail, coupled with a narrower nose and tail will make for a faster board. You should ajust the rocker according to what you generally want to use it in(Tom Sterne is a Third Coast Vet. and should have some important input for you).Herb.
Hey j.d. - I think if you check archives under “long board guns” you’ll find some discussion on this type of board. Rusty makes a “Desert Island” and an “Elektra-Glide” model that might be worth looking at on their web-site. Eaton, Stewart, Infinity, etc. all have longboard speed shapes as well. http://rusty.com
