Stevo, It is pretty well impossible. the jig acts as a resin dam as well. the whole kit is really in expensive and if you have trouble getting them try Jodie Cooper on the website [speeedfins.com] and she can probably hook you up . but the whole process if you have the gear is easy.
I checked out the Speedfins installation kit and you are right it is expensive ! I am fairly sure that I can fashion some jigs out of acetate or plastic sheet. I will give it a go and post the results,

I meant inexpenive , not very dear. Compared to other systems .
In the UK the jig would cost me over £30 (wholesale price) which about twice the cost of 2 sets of Speedfins longboard outriggers. Once used I will probably never use it again which is why I am thinking trhere must be an alternative solution to their installion.
