Speeedfins repair questions

I’ve never worked with Speeedfins. A quick internet search and I did not find a good web page or real install instructions. A quick Swaylock’s search and it looks like they might have gone out of business in 2008.

I’m not dealing directly with the board owner…It’s one of those…you know…Bro deals…Ha Ha…

I can glue this box back in and glass over it…no problem…

My real question is how do you get the fin out of the box? Is there a trick…or do I just wack the fin with a 2x4 like O’FishL???

Thanks…Ray…

just straight up and out [if seen from bottom of board]

maybe spray a bit op wd40 first and let it sink in… or just plain water.

there is a clicking mechanism inside that holds the fin

they are pretty tight for sure !

i still have five boxes left…

Thanks Wouter...I needed to pop the fin in on the other side to get some measurements.....worried that I would not be able to get the fin back out......

Sure enough , the "good" side box is cracked about 1/2 way around the box.......I guess that explains the slob job of resin over the top of that box......My plan is to fix the busted out box and then cap all three boxes with 4 oz cloth ........

You stand over the tail of the board and hold it on the ground with your big toe and wiggle the fin back and forth while you pull upwards and it should suddenly pop. If it’s totally stuck, slide something under the trailing edge of the fin as far as you can to act as a lever point and knock the fin backwards. That should pop it out. I think Oke surfboards in Victoria, Oz took the company over.

did some search on the web as well, and yes, the oke surfboards seem to sell them still…

i have always LOVED my board with speeedfins. And funny enough, chuck, from chucks surfboard shop in Costa Rica loves his Channel Islands with speeedfins best too. So AM did install them for a while too.

Such a pity they did not make it… i love their carbo-ceramic fins… BUT, any fin system today, and especially LArry-s, can EASILY move their tabs forward and achieve the same movement in the trailing edge

my HP compsand longboard i am building is going to get the last few boxes i have… and i have two sets of the small carbo ceramics and one set of carbo ceramic mick fanning fins…so i can joggle around…

if your box is broken, get a new box for it… i will have 1 left over, so if you want it pm me…

for those who appreciate the best
