spider cracks/rail shatter

What’s the stuff you ding doctors use to “melt away” those annoying spider cracks from the occasional rail bump or loosing your board on rocks and getting spider cracks and scratches but not a full-on ding. Where can I buy this stuff, how do I use it and how does it work?

the stuff i use is sandpaper. just take it easy with a block and you can get down through most cracks enough to glass over and hide it. be especially careful on a painted board. good luck.

Nomad, If you sand the area down a little bit, it will make a slight depression for the new resin. Then, just before you apply new resin, brush in some Styrene with a small artist brush. The Styrene, which is pretty thin, will soak into the cracks and they’ll disappear. Apply the catalyzed resin right away. When it’s hard, sand it out as usual. Works great. Doug

Hey nomad, here’s a clue, super-glue. Make sure it’s dry, warm in the sun, hair dryer, whatever. Let it start to cool for a while. It will now suck in thin super-glue right into every nook and cranny if you are carefull. Beats all other methods, is quick, and can be surfed almost immediately.

great methods, as i was never sure what to do. friends come to me sayign fix this, when in reality i tell them come back when it lets in water.
