spray foam

I just got a job in a company that uses 2lb polyurethane spray foam for insulation. it can be applied in layers 1.5 inches thick. Being a surfer the first thing I start thinking is ‘now i can make my own blanks.’ if I can layer up the spray to make a thick enough blank.

Weird question, but has anyone heard of or tried this?

It’s not the same quality as surfboard polyurethane.

You’ll get voids and inconsistencies in density.

Unless you live in the far corners of the globe it’s probably cheaper and more functional to just get a proper surfboard blank.

The structural spray foam is good for shooting in to hollow boards that are weak on the deck…it will harden and provide interior support.

Also good for filling oddly shaped holes that are too big for cabosil/resin.
