spray paint on eps

My paint gun died and I’m thinking of using Krylon acrylic spray paint dusted lightly before laminating. Any problem or experience with this? Mike

I used the Krylon H2o on EPS with a spackle coat and had no problems, yet. I have lam’d and hot coated using RR.

Thanks surf4,

That’s what I was thinking about doin. mike

Krylon H2O on EPS:

Sweet board, Ben. Thankee. mike

Don’t make this mistake. Krylon Fusion on eps. Glad I tried it on a scrap first! Mike

has anyone tried the white paint? i used colors (red/orange/yellow) on a board and it worked great (yellow was a bit splotchy) but i tried white and i totally messed with my lam. yellow spots and un-bonded spots.

i stripped, sanded, reglassed and then sprayed on top of the glass and had the same problem with the hotcoat. maybe some chemical in the white (or im dumb).

john-0,

The Krylon Fusion acrylic spray paint I used on scrap started to disolve the foam. Kind of fun to watch. Not as good as gasoline on styrofoam, but interesting. I’ll try to find the Krylon H20 as Benny 1 suggested. Or, I’ll just do it clear. Or, I’ll try a pigment It’s all fun. mike

Yep, it’ll do that. Its not the paint, but the solvent/propellant.

I did the same thing for the “$143” spray on my first Home Depot special. The numbers ended up recessed about 1/4" - I just filled that with resin

LOL!!

Ben that’s classic, you may have stumbled on a new way to strengthen the deck…er under your belly?
