spreaders

Does anyone know where I can get super flexible yellow plastic speaders.

Howzit ghostshaper, I get mine at Ace Hardware.Aloha,Kokua

look on ebay… bondo spreader, yellow spreader…

at the local stores i was paying between 70 and 80 cents… ebay they have lots of 100 for about 10 cents each…

get the 6" ones with the rounded edge, not the ones which are cut square. I found them at ACE in grey and yellow.

Howzit miki, I but the square ones and make my own curved edges to my own specs. On some of them I only curve one edge which I use when finishing wrapping the rails. Aloha,Kokua

hi Kokua,

that’s a bloody good idea, never thought of it. so you could buy a 1/16" or so polyethylen sheet, cut it to size, round one edge and you have the best spreader there is.

when I first used the plastic spreader I was disappointed as it dried the laminate. I put it in the “no good” basket and never used it again. one day on Big Island I bought a set of yellow ones, tapered with a rounded edge and nice ripples along where you hold it. I bought it for repairs but soon realized the difference and became very fond of it.

as these spreaders work very well with polyester they are a must for epoxy.

Hi Kokua and Miki,

next time you go to Ace(?) can you let me know the brand?

This particular spreader is made by a company called GL Enterprises out of Utah.  I know Revchem Composites carries them regularly.  They also carry the hard Bondo spreaders, so be sure to ask for item# 37BO130 or you might not get the right ones.  They come in a box of 100 and are pretty cheap (I believe around $0.59 each).

ya could always use a stick.

nar, use ya credit card…A1. It’s a life saver !

Howzit Dean, I don't think they are packaged so no brand name, just look for the yellow ones that are a pretty hard plastic. Aloha,Kokua
