Spring Deck surfboard?

Does anyone know anything more about the spring deck surfboards than whats contained in the article on the surfing mag website?

It seems like interesting stuff. Seems like it would have an different feel to it.

Any insight?

Now you know I’m the naysayer…

Tinkler tails came out somewhere back in the late 70’s or so for surfboards, so been around a while. Maybe earlier, but maybe not called Tinklers.

Theory is spring or bumper flew allows the tail to bend under load when you turn hard, and spring flat giving you drive.

Doesn’t seem in sync with modern surfing where you glide little, but mostly turn/counter over and over again.

Problems with reliability, of course, as springs rust, bumpers get softer, resin cracks in the glass thru repeated flexings.

I wouldn’t go there, but you might try it if you want something different.

Oh, tail heavy is less a problem than nose heavy, except when you are taking off.
