How much longer in the Ventura area before most people hang up the springsuit for heavier rubber?
Dude, like when you start getting cold and it’s no fun anymores.
Who can predict the weather, or the water temps when it starts getting colder as the days shorten and the nights lengthen.
Some guys get cold, others spring it year round.
Look inside for the answer.
12:37pm on October 5th. That is the time when you should hang it up. Fullsuits should be hung up on May 3rd between 5:00pm and 6:30pm, except on a leap year.
I don’t know about Ventura, but up here in Nor Cal I got two days of spring suit in and now it’s back to cold morning sessions with booties. I’ve even seen some guys breaking out the hoods already (why i don’t know: it’s not that bad yet). Enjoy it while you can down there guys!
Thanks for the input. I know its a wide open and possibly loaded question. I have a friend in Santa Cruz and we got into a talk about how much the temp varies up and down the coast. He is already back in his 4/3 for morning and evening sessions and couldnt believe the water temp had reached 70 deg. here. One thing we agreed on is it seems the older you get the longer the heavy stuff stays on.
Nothings as bad as the eastcoast. I’ve been trunking it, no rashguard and had a guy with booties and fullsuit on in the water. Prob has more to do with newbs in the water but I hate rubber and shed it as soon as I can…Never put up with being cold though!
year 'round is ok, unless ya get cold.
