Does anyone else have this problem with the modified Hitachi? My depth control knob seems sticky; when I am turning it it is not smooth at all, and often as I am making a pass it seems to “drop” into a deeper setting. I am a relative novice so maybe they all do this? Is there anything I can do to smooth things out?
Graphite Powder!!
…check below at my post…the stock hits are crude, but can be made to run better than anything else out there, hands down…you just have to know what you’re doing.Herb
Jono, should I simply slip a little powder down into the knob, or…? Herb, I did not quite understand your post. Didn’t see anything below? What’s the trick man? Thanks a lot for both of your help- colt
…Reducing the stickness can be done several ways and doesn’t take much thought,I would remove the control knob, and check for spurs, chips, etc.Clean up any stuff that might cause hang-up,then put a "O"ring under the knob, lube(graphite is good, doesn’t collect dust and gum-up).and reset the knob, finished. That should make for a smoother control, with less or no slop in the rotation.Herb
