Thank You to all of those who contributed to Olin’s new board. Steiny gave me a check shortly before he left for France. Your generosity helped restore Olin’s faith in humankind (to the extent a 10 year old has it). Alas, the board has apparently disappeared into the ether (or someone’s encampment along highway 1, or Fresno). I’m finally getting around to shaping a new one and wanted to thank you all and give an update.

Steiny gave me an eps blank that was already shaped for his son Paul. At 9’ something, it is a little big for Olin. He wanted his board to be identical to the one stolen (this being my fourth board I’m thinking “yeah, right”). The stolen board was a pig-ish 8’4", 20 inches wide , with pointy 14" nose I copied from a pic of a Tanner Prairie board Olin found online (Olin’s favorite surfer being Alex Knost). So I picked up a US Blanks 8’9Y and started shaping this week. I flipped the blank end for end cutting 5" off the tail (which will become the nose). So far the board bears a passing resemblance to the one stolen. I’m trying to finish it today. Brian H. (a swaylocks regular I believe) has kindly offered to glass it. I will post some pics tonight.

Again, we can’t thank you all enough.

Jeremy and Olin

the swaylocks crew are the best crusties around. thanks to all who helped pay for olin’s new board

common jeremy- where are those photos? i miss seeing you guys.

steiny

Yep that sounds like fun!  Just give me a call, we can do it anytime.

Did Olin decide on some colors?  Clean like the last one or wild style?  Needs some recess on it for sure.

You know I am a fan of the tints…

recess time

Right on, Motif.

yee haw! atta boy Brian!

arghh…sorry steiny. Have taken pics with my phone (can’t send to my email…) and last night, finally, with my now broken camera. I am still flummoxed by swaylocks pic uploader…am i missing something? Will bring your board (Paul’s) over tomorrow and say “hi”. We are missing you as well.

Brian! Thanks! Can’t find your number (not in my phone). God, it’s a wonder I get anything done at all. I am applying finishing touches (you know, like wondering why one side is 3/16 wider than the other and trying to take out the overly severe ‘vee’ i shaped in a late-night, red-wine induced haze). Olin is chomping at the bit and won’t surf c*****s without it.

Color would be nice but be warned: olin says he wants it ‘the same’. By the way, love the pic. Is that recess in Mex?

jeremy

Olin’s new board, a few pics  (I really should clean up my shaping room, er, stall)…

sickie sickie sick sick

jeremy- you are my hero!

that looks fun. i miss surfing with you guys

peace, love and tacos,

stein
