stop board yellowing

Hello,

I’ve a surfboard that means a lot to me. It’s about 10 years old and it has started to yellow from sitting in the sun. It there anything I can put one it to stop the yellowing. I like to display it a room instead of keeping it in my garage but I reallly am worried about the board yellowing any more. Please help.

Thanks
Matt

dont let it sit in the sun. boards yellow its inevitable. you can prolong the process but you can never fully avoid it.

I was looking on line and found kyron (or something) uv protective acrylic spray paint has anyone ever used this?

yeah.

It is not gonna stop the board from yellowing…I believe that it is advertising that the acrylic itself will not yellow. The yellow  is coming from the foam being exposed to sun, so leave it out of the sun or paint it white or somthing. good luck

Fully agree with the others’ comments - you can slow it down but not stop it. Never leave a board in the sun is a good starting point. Depending on the board’s finish, there are many anti-uv coatings available (check car “wax” finishes, marine applications, even craft products) which will more or less cut down on the uv yellowing.

if the foam is yellowing  I am not sure a UV coating will help all that much.  Paint with a UV clear coat might be the only way to keep the Board from yellowing.

Yellowing is cool.

scrape the wax

and see the diffrence

between the wax covered

deck and the rails… so cool.

…ambrose…

the best way to keep

a board from yellowing?

Never use it.
