stringer templates

whats the easiest way to make a stringer template for a hot wire jig?

Tempered Masonite, 1/8th inch thick.

I have made templates with 1/8" masonite, and with 1/4" MDF, and I prefer the MDF, mainly because I use sewing machine bobbins as wire guides on the templates, and they fit the 1/4" thick MDF better (less wobble). There is a thread about the bobbins here on Sways.

If you are not going to use the bobbins, the 1/8" masonite is the way to go, be sure you wax/polish the edge so the wire doesn’t catch…I sand to 220 and then use paste wax and my dremel with a buffing pad on it to get the template edges really smooth…
