stringer weight vs extra glass

question:

how does overall weight compare between using a stringer vs

an extra layer of 6oz glass top and bottom? (know I could do the math…)

stringer with 2-6oz, 6oz vs

stringerless with 3-6oz, 2-6oz

board:

6’ egg from #1 eps about 2" thick to be used as a push in board

for my 50lb 4.5 yr old

I was thinking of going stringerless. Partly because I’m being lazy

and partly for weight. I want to keep the board light so it is easier

for my boy to handle.

For a little guy (mini-grom) on a 5’6"-6" x 18"ish x 2" glued in rocker

will 2-6oz deck 1-6oz bottom work?

Or do I need to goto 3-6oz deck 2-6oz bottom?

In both cases I plan to go stringerless.

b.t.w. I’ll wrap all layers to add rail strength and rigidity.

thanks

Generally you can put 2 oz. more glass on each side for the same weight of a stringer. The break stregth will be about the same but the ding strength goes up on the stringerless one so overall you have an advantage stringerless.
