Stubb Vectors...Scott W & Tim C

Thanks…I’m going to contact Moondoggies regarding a stock or custom vector…7’ or 7’2". I know some are broader outlines than others. I was thinking 21" wide or so (I’m 6’3", 190 lbs). Could you let me know the dimensions of yours (center, nose, tail), bottom shape, etc.? and…where is the widest point on those…forward of center slightly? joe

If these rocket sled boards are based on the stubb vector, then this link might give you a frame of reference. http://www.pointblanks.com/rocket_sled.html

I checked out the rocket sled and it does look sorta like a stubb. Joe, I will find some info that I mailed to someone who was also interested in my board and post it here for you.

These numbers were taken every six inches Starting at the tail and would make a half board template. Double them for overall demensions. Tail block/Stearn- 2 5/8". 6"- 5 5/8" 12"- 7 3/8" 24"- 9 1/2" 30"-10" 36"-10 3/8" 42"- 10 9/16" 48"- 10 1/2" 54"- 10 1/4" 66"- 9 3/4" 72"- 7 1/2" 78"- 5 5/16" 84"- 1 3/4" These next numbers are what Dave wrote on the board. The board was shaped from a Clark foam 7" 4" R blank with natural rocker. The foil thickness is 1.5" nose at 12" back, 2.7" middle and 1.625" tail at 12" up. Rocker is 5.25" nose and 2.8" tail. The fins are set at 3.25" up for the center fin and 11.5" up for the side fins and toed in .25". I had this board custom made for my size/weight (6’ 0" and 185 pounds) and to surf fair to good surf in the 2’ to 6’ foot range. It works well in surf that size but gets a bit stiff when the waves approach 8’ feet, but then again so do I [smile] The bottom is mostly flat with some V starting in front of the forward fins and then fading at the tail. it also has a slight double concave mixed in with the V. Let me know if there is any thing else I can do to help you. Good luck, Scott.

Fletcher (of point blanks)learned to shape under the watchful eye of Parmenter.I am not sure if Dave had any direct input into the design of the rocket sled(seemms like he did)or not, but indirectly for sure, and yes it is essentially the same as a stubb vector, just different materials.
