stubby again

hi every body,

i’m danga, from reunion island. i’m an amateurshaper, only for myself.

i would like to shape a stubby, for me, for surfing some little waves,

I just realized a template on akushaper,

I would like your opinion about the outline, the rocker and volume distribution

intended for small waves fairly flat, sometimes hollow.

please forgive my english very bad!

thank you for your answers!
best regards
danga

nobody can help me?

I would like to help you, but don’t know where to begin.  The shape is so far removed from anything I have ever surfed.  To be frank, it looks like a dog to me, but that’s just speculation.  You might rip on it.

I haven’t tried one of these, but this thread might be a good starting point - 135 pages, there must be something in there you could use… http://www2.swaylocks.com/forums/bars-soap-your-laboardatory-post-your-mini-simmons-pics

What are you planning on shaping the board from?

if you go here www.blendingcurves.com and have a look at the stubby and fish templates it might help.

somthing looks out of sorts with your template like its a couple of boards stuck together.

Looks very much like some of the early twin fins, circa 1970.     For small waves, It will get the job done.     You’ll have fun, and learn something along the way.

I personally can’t see why that wouldn’t be a fast, capable small wave board. Strange looking, but with such a flat rocker and wide shape it seems like it will definitely go somehwere. Might not be the best for quick turns or something, but just go for it. If it dosn’t perform, there’s your excuse to make another board.

I shaped a diamond tail stubby small wave board recently. Except I’ve got the wide point just behind center, more tail rocker, and it’s a tad skinnier. It’s been working well. Mine’s like 17" wide 1’ from the tail, but the tail is pretty wide itself. Also it’s much shorter. It’s like halfway between a bar of soap and a small wave performance shotboard thing.

thank you for your response guys, i see the real stubby on the.
the aku template is just for give an idea.i did not hit the rail on the aku template.
so, with more lift, it can be better maybe?

in fact, i would like a board like this shape:

photo and shape: MAZ BOARDS

I definitely like that board - nice gentle curve relaxed rocker, no big flat spot with a nose flip.  More curve in the template as well, looks like a narrower tail in the photo than the drawing.

What fin setup are going to go with?

twin fins, or quattro. i prefer twin, because i like to skid the tail, it’s more funny for rollers and 360, in small waves
