Hey all, my uncle is asking me what I want for a graduation gift, and I’m thinking of getting a planer. Cost isn’t really that much of a concern (except for Skil 100’s and other rarities). I’m wondering what you guys would suggest. I want something that will get the job done, but I’ve never used a planer before, so I also want one that is easy to use and forgiving.
Clark Foam’s re-worked Hitachi “2003” hands down. It has the right geometry and the action is adjustable so a novice will quickly learn the benefits of the upgrades. There is a Bosch model not adapted for surfboard shaping, but I understand it has quality componetry if that is a deciding criteria. Hope this helps.
