Suggestions 4 strange 8' Pintail

Hello Folks

I think I’m going to go for an odd hybrid this week.

I was curious on anyone’s thoughts on this type of shape.

(I know hybrids are not popular but Im starting to like them a lot more).

What I was thinking of was a 2+1 fin comfiguration. (ridden %50 as a single)

A sort of sharp at the point on the pintail, but with touch of hip right after. Not a lot of volucme in the tail with a fairly hard edge.

8’0”

14.25 nose

21.75 mid

14 tail

3" thick

Slightly lower tail rocker (Maybe 2 3/16” ???)

Flat to double to a spiral Vee exiting out.

Standard (medium) nose rocker

I have been digging the Kane Garden San Diego series,

The Pointbreak, Sandpiper, and Ghostrider look interesting to me and are influencing me this way.

All feedback welcome

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Cheers

from the “calling occupants of interplanetary craft” thread …

OR, how about a “thumb” ? [these seem to have had a kind of ‘hip’ in them , instead of the double wings , to bring the tail in ]

by the way , thanks for the challenge to my thinking, Basswave !

…I have an 8’ double stringer blank at hicksy’s [cut down from a 10’ 11" windsurfer blank …same as the “moonrocket” was !!]

I guess there’s nothing to stop me doing something like the “moonrocket” [smaller than Grant’s version] …or a “thumb” , or one like the reddish one pictured above , WITHOUT any wing or hip ! [I DO like my pintails , THAT’S for sure !!]

cheers !

Thanks Chipfish I do love different shapes as well as other things for that matter.

I think this shape coming up will be a little be more conservative though…LOL

What do you think of the KG stuff ?

Not the fishes but the SD series?

That is one sweet lookin board

Tony,

Any progress on your pintail based on a Kane Gardens series? I am looking at shapes for my next cedar strip and the Sandpiper was on the list of shapes that caught my eye. Found your thread and wanted to see if you went ahead with any designs based on their shapes.
