Sunova quick update ...

hey crew , long time …

was just passing through picking up some PMs , had one of those , just thought of it ideas , so here it comes …

update ??

well we are almost there …

get totally stoked every time i walk through the factory , night times is good …

can enjoy the boards without all the noise …

can honestly say , the last 18 months of my life has been intense to say the least …

obviously had a big to do list to get things going again , appart from head down , there was also big brother to deal with , easier to stay quiet and wait till he is gone …(is it safe to come out yet ?)…

18 months to go , the future thread "Sunova Sets the record straight " will be an interesting read for sure …

well, we finally cleared the back log and now there are actually stock boards coming through …

i have one board which is the main reason for this thread …

we built a custom for a guy , after riding his first one (did not pass QC, overweight )which we let him use while the second perfect board was being built , the customer decided it wasnt really what he wanted afterall , so he decided to go for something different …

this leaves me with a board which really deserves the right owner …

you can see the board with triple stringers , i personally did more work on this board than i would otherwise do , busted my gut actually to make sure it was perfect …

i would be bummed if it just went to a shop and the new owner didnt appreciate the effort that went in …

so before it gets shipped off , i was going to give someone out there the opportunity to have this board , we can ship within Oz or the USA or anywhere close to there for a price that is reasonable and priced in , european customers will have a shipping charge added …

anyone can PM me here , but with my routine and poor track record of getting back to people , contacting info@sunovasurfboards.com will be a guaranteed way of accessing this board and making sure your in our system …

anyway , just snapped a few pics off the floor while im here , its back to custom boards like always , we do have stock models available , we have taken great care to make sure no 2 sunovas are the same ? (paradox ?) , ok we can make 100 boards the same ,shape , layup and skin sandwich wise etc , but no 2 boards of the same shape and dimensions will carry the same artwork or colors …

im not sure about others , but i personally would not like to show up at the beach and see 10 other guys riding the same board as me …

excuse the pic quality and lay out , just a board builder remember , not a photographer or graphic presentation expert , also these are off the floor pics , so its a working factory , not glam media pics …

hm , drama with photos …

will try post and edit , any changes to the system since ive been gone ??

ok still on this one till these photos load …

looks like i need a refresher coarse or have a glitch ?

1 more post coming with the pics i really wanted to show …

ok have fun , gota fly …

regards

BERT

hm i thought there was an image size limit ??

anyway …

still cant get em inline , but here they are …

thats as good as i can get it with bigger pics …

really wanted them inline ?

anyway , really do have to get out of here now …

will try and make regular visits , bye for now …

Very nice!

I, for one, am curious about the use of HD foam at the tips. Sure seems much easier than woody nose/tail blocks, not to mention more waterproof.

yep , hd foam is easier to work into a shape , personally i still like everything in wood and its an option to have if one wants …

also the orientation of the grain is real important if using wood tail blocks …

ive seen some boards with tail blocks that look more like a straw to the core …

did i say have to go ??

feels like the old swayaholic days …

am out for sure this time …

Scott! did you ever get that resin you were looking for a while back ??

also i heard the water has been real cold there this year ?

wouldnt know personally , last time i was back in Oz , i was so freezing i couldnt even face getting changed into a wetsuit , was not keen at all to feel the cold again …

the water here is so hot , you cant catch more than 3 or 4 waves without going back to shore for a water and a swig of beer , sounds crazy to drink while surfing , but it seems to soften the heat and its like one bottle for a whole session , its definitely a luxury when you have restaurants on the beach keeping your beer on ice , just dont leave unused boards laying about freely here , its the dam elephants you have to watch , elephant in reverse , still have the mental images haunting me , a new feeling for sure , similar to the feeling you get when you snap a board , an elephant stomps on your best ever board ?? what can you do ??

feel helpless thats it …

later …

Welcome back Bert,

Fantastic looking boards.

The other thing about Elephants is that people in Oz always look for stuff relating to Elephants with their trunks up.

As a veteran of 11years adventure guiding in Thailand I always hope the Elephant with the raised trunk just has water he’s going to spray you with and not a suffering from a cold.

What’s a Sangthip koout bahn going for these days? Used to be 90 baht.

they changed the name to Sang Som now …

neung koout 215 baht …

seriouly , the elephants here are a serious hazard , even in the city …

have seen some elephant uglyness already …

just a few weaks back a taxi hit one going flat out , not much left of the taxi either …

the beach where i do most of my surfing has quite a few local guys with chang/elepants , they get together and play elephant soccer on the beach at low tide …

very scary when they are running around you with eyes for the ball …

I see you have some boards at davo’s are these for sale or whats the deal, They seem to be big boys boards let we know as we have a few people like one every day looking to have a repair done on there other type of compsit board, but most are keep to stay with this type of board so I would like to show them yours and most are keen to test ride the CDD blank so we are going to make some sample boards out of the next batch of blanks. Let me know Peter

UM? yea , they are for sale …

some are demos and loaners if crew have boards in for repair or just want to have a go …

what better place to find your Sunova , at the repair place where the others go to die …

also repairs there , had a few get the usual knocks in transit , so Davo gets em looking good as new again then for sale as B grade or secondhand …
