All done. Here is Davo holding the big baby. Front
And back
I did all the work, other than the shaping, glassing, setting fins and pin striping. (Nice work Davo) Actually, Davo paid me a hugh compliment by saying that he had never seen anyone willing to glass in flip flops. Of course, as I think about it, maybe that was a not too gentle jibe about safety and my lack of it. But not a drop hit my feet. And only a precious few drops hit the floor.
One last shot. My maiden voyage was at Patrick Airforce Base and I have to say there were a few times I was afraid of being mistaken for something other than a SUP. Note the rail channel and the nice FREEHAND PINSTRIPES. Incredible.
It is 11.5 ft and 24.5 wide and 4.75 thick. It weighs exactly 22 pounds. It has a fair bit of vee in the tail. The rocker is 7.5 in the nose and 5 in the tail.
That’s a nice board! How much do you weigh? That thing will be a rocket when the waves get bigger… I wish I could SUP something that narrow comfortably in choppy conditions… If its glassy should be stable to SUP… That would be an awesome big wave knee paddle gun! Can you imagine stroking with your canoe paddle into some Waimea bombs??? Awhoooooooooooo!!! Call me if you ever do it. I’d like to watch!
Carve, I weigh about 165. Wet. Hoping I can SUP this thing. First try this weekend. Oh boy.
Kia, next one will be 26 wide and a full 12 ft. I know Carve loves his Surftechs so I’m going to model it after them. I’m rigging a small hotwire to help reduce the planner work. That is a lot of foam to mow with my Haitachi.

I love the Munoz models BUT, I’d make them with a much flatter bottom for SUP. They are very rolled and tippy! For SUP the Surftechs are very un-stable. Fine for knee paddling… I’d even go less rocker if you model the 12 footer… Just something I’m considering doing soon as I’m heading back into the shaping room… As soon as I can square away some blanks… I was out today and there were small chops and I fell a bunch of times… _ My new board coming strictly for SUP is 10’-6", 28" wide, flat bottom, wide point forward… Very unlike my Munoz… I’m very curious to hear how you like 24" wide… Sounds like a leg burner… Good training though!
