SUP paddle #4

Tried to attach more than three pictures on one post, but couldn’t do it. (Is that the limit?)

SUP paddle #4: smooth rounded front

SUP #4 paddle back before polyurethane finish (shaped with center ridge)

Paddle specs: 74 3/4 inches tall; blade: 8 3/4 inches X 16 inches; 39 ounces; double bend approx 10 degrees each.

again, mokulele, beautiful craftmanship. the use of multiple timbers & the double angle shaft evidences great skills. i’m sure it’s functional, but it’d look sweet on a wall too. great work.

Aloha Dal:

Wow that is excellent. It’s more than a paddle, it’s art!

Mahalo,

D

Have you tried it yet? Looks interesting with the double angle thing.

kaalualu,

I tried the paddle yesterday at Ala Moana (flat water). The double bend seems to reduce the distance that I have to extend my upper arm. I also cut down the shoulder height of the blade to reduce hitting the board rails when pulling back on the paddle. So far seems good. Have to try it in some waves.

Good on ya, I wouldn’t worry much about banging the paddle, it happens, but not as much as I thought.

Side note: Met Carvenalu the other day, down here working on his property, he caught a few smooth ones at out local spot…Good to meet you bradda Carve.

Mahalo Uncle D!

I take my board out about once a week. Probably need to go more to get proficient on the waves. I’m also working on some traditional style paddles (like the one pictured in the avatar)

Nice paddle!

Howzit Kaalualu… Cool to meet and talk story with you too… I hooked up with Alika and met Ikaika too. I’m heading back there in a little while… I’m going to try and time it when there is a big N or NE… Aloha
