After looking over the Supercharger board in the Experimental page I began to remember a fin that I saw in an older Surfer’s Journal. It was a single fin, around 9", that had a smaller fin in front of it. I don’t remember anything more about the fin but now I’m curious to go through the mags an find the darn thing. If I do I’ll post the pic with any descriptions tomorrow. Also anyone try the CRV fins on boards over 10’?
Drew, The fin you have described sounds like the Bill Fury fin(s),probably the First drafted fin theory in the surfing world.BELIEVE IT OR NOT,I know where there is a couple of them.Bill is not doing so well thses days he suffered a stroke, and remains paralyized on his left side(right hemi). He now resides in a convalesent(hellhole) home(if you can call it that!)in Longbeach.Bill was an all time great, and gave alot to the sport of surfing. It’s a shame that he has ended up where he is.Bill was the owner of the original,“Plastic Fantastic Surfboards”. On another note,CRV fins I find either you love them or you hate them.Me myself I don’t care for the drag they cause,I traded a set of my fins for a set of FCS/CRV fins, and for the most part they sit on my peg board collecting dust.Herb.p.s. watch your FCS plugs,YOU NEED TO PUT THEM IN HEAVY DUTY!!!
I’ve heard of a similar idea called the “MVG TURBO SYSTEM”. You can see it at www.gosurfgear.com. I wonder if it really does anything?>>> After looking over the Supercharger board in the Experimental page I began > to remember a fin that I saw in an older Surfer’s Journal. Herb you nailed it that is exactly who designed it - To keep the playing field level you are now banned from future trivia games on this site. Sorry to hear about his condition, it certainly is a shame. Thanks for the input on the CRVs. I’m hearing the same thing in a bunch of different places. For some sick reason I would like to try them eventually. I’ve included a link to the picture for all us obsessed builders out there. Enjoy! http://www.geocities.com/surfore
I tried a 5 fin surfboard yesterday it was really stiff and tracked really bad!I forgot the brand name of the board but my friend called it a Supercharger Model.I’ll stick to my 2 plus 1 longboard another gimmick from an unproven surfboard designer trying to cash in on fools that will believe anything!

And you’re comparing it to a??? 2+1 longboard ,what?..if I didn’t build it or instruct the builder how to build a S.C. and it didn’t have my fins…it wasn’t a Spitzer Supercharger…“CASH IN ON FOOLS” ,“A GIMMICK” your words ,fury(not Bill,I know)…bet I can make your 2+1 ride better,AND i’m willing to prove it…go ahead …Herb.
Hey, Herb, Don`t sweat verbal friction like this… reminds me of travelers who visit faraway places, and then simplistically whine about the way the locals talk, behave or believe, expecting them to adapt their lives to the ignorant and insensitive whims of visiting tourists… totally missing the opportunity to experience the indigenous culture revealing itself, in its own way, on its own time. Surfboards and the complex variables that surround their use should usually be given the same measure of respect, too… at least until they conclusively demonstrate otherwise. Dale
