Supplies

Where does everyone purchase all of their supplies? Supply costs are killing me unless I buy 10 cases of everything at a time? Cloth, pigment, buckets, resin, etc…

If you’re on the West Coast, you can check with Fiberglass Hawaii in Santa Barbara or Santa Cruz area. They sell small quantities and are familiar with surf technology. There is also South Bay Plastics in Torrence CA. and Tap Plastics in northern California. A good national source is Fibreglast (www.fibreglast.com) [note the spelling!] They are a composites hobbyst source, so they don’t have experience with surfboards, but they’ve got lots of stuff and some free information. For epoxy resins, System Three in Seattle or West Systems in the midwest are common sources for boat guys. I’m sure there are others-let’s hear who they are!

What region of the country are you in, or world if that’s the case. Sounds like maybe Ocracoke by your name.

Rascoe,do you get your supplies in Point Harbour??? the place by Tim Nolte’s shop,i forget the name of it???

Rascoe, I live in Virginia. I get some of my supplies from US Fiberglass but they aren’t always the cheapest on certain items. They also don’t carry certain items. Masking tape can be picked up cheaper other places. Buckets can be bought cheaper other places. Any information on where everyone else gets their supplies would be great. PS Great job Rascoe on the Blackbeard thing!

To Edward Teach and Teddy, the place in Point Harbor, NC is US Fiberglass, where WRV is made. Me and almost the whole mid-atlantic get our Clark foam there; they act as sort of a warehouse for it, and do custom foam ordering from Clark. There’s a great place right in Virginia (norfolk) for JPS fiberglass, acetone, 3M tape, cabo-sil, and pigments called Eastern Burlap. Lots of boat stuff, no surfboard resin. North American Composites delivers silmar and JPS cloth, 'tone and other supplies to the O. Banks regularly. They’re out of Baltimore. Good 'ole Atlantic Surfing Materials sends me most of my paints, boxes, buckets, squee-gees,leash plugs, sandpaper, etc.(FLA) Surf Source in Atlantic Beach Fla. is the place for FCS, and have everything else too, it seems to be slightly higher, but they are very pro and fast. Also, Fiberglass FLorida has everything, I prefer their Spray Laquer. Red-x comes from Block Industries in Cali. Atlantic Surfing is the place for Futures. Some won’t sell to just anybody;i.e. business licenses and stuff. Hope this is helpful…

Check out www.foamez.com, we have a wide variety of supplies for building boards. Shipping is no problem, we ship all over the US daily. Thanks- http://www.foamez.com

thanks rascoe…i’ll check into those places

Teddy; You can get all the fiberglass supplies from the Mahogany Co. in Mays Landing, NJ, about 15 miles inland from OC. They carry Silmar resins and cloth. I believe that is where Fly Surfbaords get their material. Just can’t get blanks there. Frank

yeah, i get my resin there, good stuff…but expensive, compared to other places. just want to compliment Foam-EZ on running a great business. always happy with what they do for me. ordering blanks, wether custom, or basic, is no sweat…shipping is also fast to me in Philly,4 days

What’s the shipping cost from foam-ez on a longboard blank to Philly?

Shipping for 1 to 12 blanks (all sizes) to anywhere in the continental US is $85.00 to a business or $115.00 to a residence. Transit time is 2-5 days depending on your proximity to Foam E-Z, 4 days to Philly. We ship out same day unless your ordering custom blanks, in this case add a week to your order. Check out http://www.foamez.com/cf/shippingInfo.cfm for more info about the shipping. Good luck! http://www.foamez.com
