At some point during the late '70s or early '80s there was a guy shaping under the label “Surf Designs” in Encinitas. The logo looked like an archery target. Lots of these boards (typically clear twinnies) were in the water between Cardiff and Leucadia. I believe there was a shop for a while either on, or right off of, PCH in Encinitas. Anyone know who shaped these boards? Thanks.
This is hazy, but I believe it was “DartBoards”. Gary McNabb and Craig Hollingsworth worked out of the Nectar Surf Shop on 101, kind of across from the Charthouse. Bill Zubro shaped those had a little shop across from the La Palooser theater .
Thanks–do you know if he still shape? Where? And I take offense at the insult directed at the La Paloma . . . the worst surf movie there was way better than the best movie on video/dvd.

Dont know what happened to Zuby hope he’s alive and well, a classic guy. Hey I love the La paloser but remember the crappy projecter, scratchy sound system raggedyass screen and the fact that they never started a film on time earned them that nickname. That building was our factory for awhile at surfboards hawaii, the glass shop was in the old bank now its some dufus niteclub ,the theater itself we used to store blanks resin etc. Last cool thing i saw there was Eddie Vedder that was fun. I hope that place lives forever.
