Any one, Where in the archives would I find the dimensions for a simple wooden shaping rack. I’ve know the general shape but would like to have some numbers to use from people who have made thier own working set. Thanks Doug
doug, i made mine from wood and buckets and they work great. they’re about 42" high, the main support is a 26" long 4x4 (an 8"x8" piece of plywood screwed on the bottom of the 4x4) in a 5 gallon bucket filled 3/4 with cement. on top of the vertical 4x4 is the U section, made with 2x4"s. horizontal piece 8" wide, vertical pieces 12" high (flush) with 5" horizontal pieces on top(working surface). i use pieces of sleeping pad foam on each piece with duct tape and strips of an old bathmat(all i could find) screwed in between the vertical struts for rail work. i’ve intended to step up to a welded set for a while but these work so good i still haven’t…hope this isn’t too confusing, it’s just what i came up with from stuff i had. woodglue/screw everything and make sure your main supports are straight up and down when they set in the concrete.
Doug: This is a link to something I found in my bookmark folder. It should get you started. Using cement in 5 gallon buckets works well as you can adjust for different length boards. Mine are a hybrid of the 4x4 in cement with a welded iron bolted to the 4x4. http://molasar.blackmagic.com/ses/book/ch5.html TS>>> Any one, Where in the archives would I find the dimensions for a simple > wooden shaping rack.
