I was wondering if anybody had a good technique for patching up tears in travel coffins. Just surface tears, no structure damage. Duct tape just isn’t cutting it, and i know a method exists. i just don’t feel like driving 2 hours to get it fixed by the people at destination. anybody patch their boardbags?
I believe there are some low-temp iron-on patches appropriate for synthetic-canvas (for lack of a better term to describewhat is used to construct the bags) that could be used. Check out a good outdoor sporting goods store, or maybe fish around online.
seamgrip. I assume it’s international. it’s a clear, rubbery glue, like really strong wetsuit glue. It’s great for tears and holes. I used to work in an climbing shop that sold it, we fixed everything with it.
Dental Floss and a needle. I use it on my wetsuit too (with glue). It takes up no space and is as strong as you want to make it. Add some other fabric to the bag and it’s that much stronger. You can use needle nose pliers if the fabric is thick.
I wish I was sewing up my coffin bag right now…
yeah maybe use contact adhesive
and overlap the tear
then glue a patch over that
and stitch if neccesary
thank you all.
