Surfboard excess baggage air canada

So air canada insist that they wont take boards longer than 6’6. do you think if i get to the airport with a 7’0 bag they are even going to notice, or do you think i HAVE to pay the 350 bucks extra for a flight with united?

Im heading to San Salvador from the UK so my options are pretty slim, Ive only got United, AA, delta, air france, air canada. So its $200 bucks each way. sucks.

I have heard or read somewhere that the big wave riders send their 10’ rhino chasers to places like Mexico, Hawaii or San Francisco weeks ahead via Delta Cargo, can anyone verify this? I have heard it’s the cheapest way to travel with big boards.

Boardbag Blues: Updated list of Boardbag Charges Around the World

**A Note About Seasonal Surfboard Embargoes:** Depending on the time of year, some airline's won't even take your surfboard, for any excess baggage charge. See the list below the table, and ask any airline, especially if you're booking during peak travel times. Actually, it's a good idea to call the airline no matter what time of year; this list is a guideline and fees can change, depending on the weather and the ticket agent's disposition. Oh, yeah: remember to smile and be nice to the ticket agent.

Yes…

…what happened to the collapseable tech and calling it a piece of art in transport?

I travelled to Nicaragua with a kiteboarder, all his gear fit within the length restriction surcharges. That said, he sat on the beach most of the trip, winds were light, offshore, and better for surf, horrible for kiting.

Delta Airlines is going to be the very first significant air carrier to gather $1 billion in airline fees, as it will gather that much by 2014. Many customers are unsatisfied with the mounting fee schedules, but the air carrier industry will cease to exist without them.
