LeeV loved the shaped blank so I gave it to him. He asked me if I would care it he modified it. I said go for it! Now it’s a 6’7" egg/hull with a squash tail. I glassed it today. We’re going to need help with fin placement…
Looks great, Ray! If there’s available seating in the peanut gallery, I’d be very interested to watch the fin install, whether its glass-ons or a fin system.
Are you thinking about McKee system placements or? McKee would say rear fins 5 5/16" up from the tail, with 7" between those rear fins. Front fins 11 9/16" up from the tail.
The McKee system seems to put the rear fins closer together than some other schools of thought, so it would look something like this:
I’m sure you already know all this. Good luck and nice board – looking forward to more pix
A little history…I stopped by Ray’s place to pick up a board I had lent him. As soon as I pulled in he showed me this cool eps pintail eggo he had made. He was trying to empty out some space in the garage and offered it to me for nuthin. Couldn’t pass that up. He let me naw at the tail some to reduce some roll back there and it ended up a square tail. Kinda like Janklow’s board. A little too much tail rocker for a single so…lets try a twin or quad.
Awesome (both the shape and the glass job)…By the way, I’d say it’s about time for another San Diego Swaylocks get together soon…no? I have lots to do.
