21) What type of damage is seen on your board? Some yellowing in old boards, dings from surfing a lot and airlines.

22) Are there any problems that occur when storing or transporting your surfboard(s)? airlines sometimes.

23) What would you like to see happen in the surf industry? Got rid of the **** apparel and ‘brands’ that people who don’t surf or wannabees where.

I’ve been shaping since 1969. That does not necessarily mean I can shape. It just depends who you compare to…

I like September through November the best but I am lucky enough to surf all year round if I want.

Right now, 5.

6’ 4" single squaretail, made in 1980. 7’ 00" diamond-tail semi-gun from 1977. 7’ 4" diamond-tail semi-gun (2004) 8’ 4" pintail gun (1997) 9’ 2" pintail longboard gun (2004)

16) Did you buy it ready made or got it customized by a shaper?

I had them customized by a shaper that I have known for years: myself.

17) How much was it?

Worth it.

18) How much would you spend on a surfboard?

One gallon of sweat, when it’s hot like today…

19) What do you like about your board(s)?

They are soooo different from all the others…

20) What do you not like about your board(s)? Each time I ride one, it makes me feel like shaping another one, better.

21) What type of damage is seen on your board?

Very little, except for the 9’ 2" that I lent for some time to a friend. He carried it in the back of his car without any protection. Now it’s full of pressure dings, stress cracks, one deep fin slash in the rail, various dings…

22) Are there any problems that occur when storing or transporting your surfboard(s)?

Not any more, but I learnt the hard way that boards usually get dinged out of the water: inside cars, getting it out of the shop when it’s brand new, etc…

23) What would you like to see happen in the surf industry?

  The emergence of environment-friendly materials without changing much in the way surfboards are made.
