Surfboard storage.

If a board (standard poly) is stored in a cooler area, in a bag, with no exposure to sunlight, will it stay in the same condition if left for a couple of years? Do these materials break down over time, or do they only wear out with use? I know it’s kind of a strange question buy I’m curious. Thanks

the glass definitely gets brittle when left for 20 years or so. shorter periods, a year or two i would guess the aging would be minimal

Store it on the rail, leaning against a wall, making EVEN contact. Or, if stored on racks, or flat, make sure the racks or surface is LEVEL. There are boards, in collections , that I made 45 years ago, that are in perfect condition. They did not get the careful treatment you have described. Long term storage on an uneven surface, CAN cause a board to twist. Just be careful. Your plan sounds like a good one.

Thanks! great advice.
